My name is Steve Cunningham and this will be my first time ever running a marathon. I am delighted to be running in the name of TJ as I know he was loved by many from Joanne’s (my wife) American branch of family and friends.
I married Joanne 10 years ago and from the day I met her she spoke highly of her American family, in particular Janet. As most of you know Janet met TJ, got married and an unfortunate illness took TJ from her at such a young age.
His memory lives on and in particular through the charity “TJ DYE FUND”. The charity gives the chance for young people to participate in sports that without money would not be able to do so. I’m especially proud to be running the marathon this year in Boston as it will be the first years anniversary of Vinnie (Janet’s dad and Joanne’s uncle) who also died from cancer. I know that Boston holds a special place in Joanne’s heart and I hope I do her and all the Boston crew proud on the day. I’m sure TJ along with Vinnie will be looking down cheering me on as my legs get tired going into the later miles of the marathon. Please dig deep and donate what you can for a great charity!!
